New pool construction during 2016 improved from the previous year with an overall increase of slightly more than 10 percent at about 67,000 new units. However, that volume remains at less than half of the annual construction units of a decade ago.

APSP's new retail council chair is our 2017 Retailer of the Year, Jennifer Clements. For more than 30 years, Jennifer has made it her mission to do her best by her business, her local community and the industry at large. She joined Pla-Mor Pools in 1985 and quickly helped the company develop a reputation as a top retailer in the Richmond area. Clements is a recognized voice in the industry and in addition to being highly active in the APSP Retail Council has served on Lonza's Dealer Council.
With the appointment of Clements, APSP's 2017-2018 Retail Council consists of seven members including: Wendy Purser, CBP from Hampstead Pool, Spa & Patio Inc.; Mallory Wachowski from DesRochers Backyard Pool Co.; Jeffrey Campbell from United Aqua Group; Travis Hogan from Fiesta Pools & Spas LLC; Julie Richard from Richard’s Total Backyard Solutions; and Dave Warren from Total Tech Pools & Leisure.
New Projects for 2018!
The APSP Retail Council is working hard on projects to elevate industry retailers. Some of those projects include: finalizing the soon to be released Retail Training Certification program; updating the nomination process for the APSP Retailer of the Year award and creating a retail special event at this fall's Vegas Expo.
