CDC Releases Guidance On COVID-19 & Treated Pool and Hot Tub Water
For the past few weeks, PHTA has been focused on the COVID-19 outbreak and its potential impact to our members. Many of you have reached out to us for guidance on what to communicate to your customers about whether COVID-19 could be transmitted in pools and hot tubs. Today, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) released official guidance regarding this issue.
According to the CDC, there is no evidence that COVID-19 can be spread to humans through the use of pools and hot tubs. Proper operation, maintenance, and disinfection (e.g., with chlorine and bromine) of pools and hot tubs should remove or inactivate the virus that causes COVID-19.

Austin Adopts the International Swimming Pool & Spa Code
On Sept. 1, 2020, the City of Austin in Texas is adopting the 2018 International Swimming Pool & Spa Code. The city is will be hosting two stakeholder meeting on March 26 and 31 to review and discuss proposed amendments to the code. Learn more and register here.
