CDC Releases Guidance On COVID-19 & Treated Pool and Hot Tub Water
For the past few weeks, PHTA has been focused on the COVID-19 outbreak and its potential impact to our members. Many of you have reached out to us for guidance on what to communicate to your customers about whether COVID-19 could be transmitted in pools and hot tubs. Today, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) released official guidance regarding this issue.
According to the CDC, there is no evidence that COVID-19 can be spread to humans through the use of pools and hot tubs. Proper operation, maintenance, and disinfection (e.g., with chlorine and bromine) of pools and hot tubs should remove or inactivate the virus that causes COVID-19.

This $5,000 grant recognizes a public health official or department who has made outstanding contributions to advance the public's health and safety use of recreational water in pools, spas and waterparks through educational, safety, operational and technical programs. PHTA's Board Chairman Elect Franceen Gonzales to be ASTM F24 Committee's 1st Woman Chairperson
PHTA is proud to announce that our Board Chairman Elect, Franceen Gonzales will be the Chairperson for ASTM's F24 committee – Amusement Rides and Devices. Gonzales is the first woman to hold this post.
Gonzales has worked hard throughout her 35-year career in the industry to make parks safer for all visitors. During this time, she has built leadership teams, developed operating protocols and consulted on the design of new water parks and resorts, as well as working on aquatic risk management.
