APSP PPSO Professional Pool & Spa Operator Instructor, Scott Heusser owner of Idaho Pool Remodeling out of Boise, Idaho was the first PPSO instructor to teach the hybrid PPSO course. Since teaching the course, he's had great feedback about the program and its hybrid format. "I found the PPSO students to be very receptive to the content of the course, especially with the slower pace provided in the blended format, said Scott." "The use of charts over calculations allowed for more time to stress important material to the student. In this first class, the majority of our students were novices and their grasp of the material with the blended format was a pleasant surprise. At the end of the day, it was great to see the confidence these individuals had in their abilities to manage a pool or spa."

APSP's partner the International Code Council (ICC) will host May as National Building Safety Month. Building Safety Month (BSM) is a public awareness campaign celebrated by jurisdictions worldwide during the month of May. Since 1980, BSM has been used to help individuals, families and businesses understand what it takes to create safe and sustainable structures. The campaign reinforces the need for the adoption of modern, regularly-updated building codes, a strong and efficient system of code enforcement and a well-trained, professional workforce to maintain the system. Learn how you can participate. Each year, governors, mayors, county executives and other officials sign proclamations, official statements and letters of recognition recognizing May as National Building Safety Month. Cyberattacks on small businesses are on the rise: In 2017, a shocking 61 percent of U.S. small businesses surveyed said they'd been a target of a cyberattack, compared with 55 percent in 2016. Phishing and other forms of social engineering, usually involving a criminal posing as a legitimate organization who tries to obtain sensitive information, such as a password, through an email, text, or phone call. For the businesses surveyed, the costs of repairing the damage from a successful attack was high: more than $1 million.

Trump delivered an eleventh-hour stay for many U.S. trading partners, including the European Union and South Korea, and had previously exempted Canada and Mexico while training his sights on China. In the short term, that makes the scenario less dire for factories and workers that rely on imported metals.
