Plenty of people have reported high levels of exhaustion from the simple act of trying to keep up with the news in recent years. That challenge is only compounded when there's an added need to cut through the constant din of agitated conflict in search of industry information — the type that doesn't often lead nightly news broadcasts.

Over the past year, the Manufacturers Council has focused on the industry's inability to attract and retain good employees at the dealer level. Listening to these discussions led me to a moment of pause. After reflecting upon the dealers with whom I have enjoyed long-standing relationships, it occurred to me that they were now, or would soon be, entering the twilight of their careers.

The trade war with China is heading straight for Americans' wallets.
Shoppers can expect to soon see higher prices on everyday items like shampoo, suitcases and salmon, as the latest round of tariffs trickles down to consumers. American businesses have so far shouldered much of the burden of rising costs, but owners say they now have little choice but to pass on the 25% tariff to shoppers.

Unless you have been on a media fast, you've probably heard that the new marketing target is the influencer. You knew that, right? In the past, when you checked the "influencer" box on a form, you were identifying a person who recommended a product or service, not the actual purchaser. But there's a new world, and influencers aren't people who simply nod (or shake) their heads.

The U.S. trade war with China has heated up, and now there is much speculation about daily life for American manufacturers and their employees. What obstacles do manufacturers face and what happens to jobs in such an unstable climate?

Drowning is still a leading cause of accidental death in the United States. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, drowning is the leading cause of accidental death for children ages 1–4, the second leading cause for children under 14, and remains in the top five causes of accidental death up to age 55. Drowning is reported as the fifth leading cause of accidental death in the United States overall. It is worth noting that more children ages 1–4 die from accidental drowning than motor vehicle accidents. We seem to be in a repeating circle as our drowning numbers in the United States remain nearly steady year after year.
