Cyanuric acid plays a vital role in pool sanitizing because of its role in protecting chlorine residuals from degradation in sunlight. The enduring question, however, is how much is too much?
Some chemistry experts argue that anything over 50 ppm is too high because CYA not only protects chlorine from the sun, it also ties it up and renders most of it ineffective as CYA levels increase.

When HGTV reached out to pool builder John Pack and asked if he’d like to submit any of his recent work for possible inclusion in an upcoming two-hour special about unforgettable residential pools, he knew just the project.
In December 2017, Georgetown, Texas-based John Pack Custom Pools completed a year-long, two-level project in Leander, Texas, involving two pools (one with an 80-foot vanishing edge) that are separated by a 14-foot drop-off, two large spas (one on each level), a spacious outdoor living area with a cabana and poolside bar, a 20-foot rain curtain, fire features, a grotto cave adjacent to the lower pool and a waterslide connecting both pools.

U.S. President Donald Trump recently said that a trade deal with Chinese President Xi Jinping was possible but he is prepared to impose U.S. tariffs on virtually all remaining Chinese imports if the two countries continue to disagree. Trump, who departed for the G20 leaders summit in Osaka, Japan also raised the possibility that he may impose a lower, 10% duty on a $300 billion list of Chinese imports, instead of the proposed 25% rate.

Ever since the mid-nineties when e-commerce was invented, online businesses have had to live and breathe by the use of keywords. But if current trends are any indication, keywords may lose their power in visual industries, such as fashion and home décor. We've all heard of companies that offer fun and trendy perks like free food, pingpong tables, a gym, and a policy that lets workers bring their pets to work. Many organizations believe that incorporating these types of perks will create the right type of desirable workplace culture and result in uber-productive workers. But here's the problem. Perks and benefits aren’t the same as corporate culture and they don't necessarily incentivize employees.

Net Promoter Score (NPS) is a customer loyalty metric introduced in 2003. It scores customer loyalty based on a single question: "On a scale of 1-10, how likely is it that you would recommend our company/product/service to a friend or colleague?" Customers who respond with a 9 or 10 are considered Promoters. Anyone scoring below 6 is considered a Detractor; those who answer 7 or 8 are considered Passive. The NPS score is calculated by subtracting the percentage of customers who are Detractors from those who are Promoters. It's an interesting methodology. The problem is it isn't necessarily right much of the time.

The days of a dark, smoky factory filled with men pushing buttons to keep the machines running are long gone.
Instead, today’s manufacturing plants are high-tech, diversely staffed and even clean. Robots automate production and improve efficiency. And the people tasked with operating the robots aren’t just button pushers — they’re trained technologists who understand the inner workings of complex machinery.

Designed for fun, with adults in mind, the Mylle pool appeared last year with one simple grid pattern and immediately sold out.

Before the Fourth of July holiday, PHTA wants to remind you to replace your customers' expired drain covers or suction outlet fitting assemblies (SOFA's). The "Check A Drain" initiative reminds both homeowners as well as professionals, to make sure pool, spa and hot tub drain covers are replaced per the manufacturer’s time requirement stamped on the cover in accordance with Federal mandates in the Virginia Graeme Baker (VGB) Pool & Spa Safety Act. Builders and installers are strongly encouraged to contact their public and residential customers. This is a great way to reconnect with customers, review the pool/spa circulation system, as well as the integrity of the existing drain cover frames. For your reference, we've developed a Frequently Asked Questions document available at APSP.org/Check. For more information, email Carvin DiGiovanni at cdigiovanni@apsp.org.
