APSP's Leadership Development Committee looking for a few good people
|
    |
APSP
APSP's Leadership Development Committee (LDC) is continually on the lookout for interested volunteers in the association who want to use their talents to benefit an APSP Council or Committee. The 2017 Leadership Development Committee is chaired by April Nielsen of Lonza. Members of the Leadership Development Committee are Brett Abbott of Pool Builder Marketing; Craig Goodson of Zodiac Pool Systems Inc.; Shawn Still of Olympic Pool Plastering; Mike Geremia of Geremia Pools, Inc. and Dick Covert of Master Pools Guild. Presently, the LDC is focused on identifying candidates for the Service, Retail and Manufacturer Agents Councils. They are also working to identify young professionals in WAVE to serve as non-voting liaisons to several APSP Councils and Committees. If you or someone you know has the passion and desire for greater APSP involvement, email Lorna Watkins or any of the LDC members.

As a business professional, you have information and insights about your industry that writers and broadcasters are looking for. You can — and will — get quoted and promoted in online and conventional media if you connect with the right people, the right way. Step 1 in that process is to create a media "hit list" of those outlets that reach out to your best prospects. After you get in touch, update them regularly on what's now, what's news, what's hot and what's not.

U.S. manufacturing suffers from an important image problem that undermines its competitiveness, according to a new survey released on July 13 by Deloitte, along with the Manufacturing Institute. However Americans have not yet given up hope on the industry and in fact are overwhelmingly optimistic for its future.

A bipartisan and bicameral group of lawmakers is proposing a bill that would incentivize and boost American manufacturing, in addition to research and development, as the Trump administration looks to keep a promise from the presidential campaign. Representatives have introduced the Invent and Manufacture in America Act, a bill that would give a tax credit to companies that not only conduct research and development, but also manufacture products resulting from that R&D as well.
