State regulatory agencies in Florida, Texas and North Carolina are in the process of adopting new rules and guidelines for the installation, operation and maintenance of "artificial swimming lagoons." The advance of new regulations is the direct result of installations from Crystal Lagoons, the innovative Chilean company that has garnered worldwide attention and acclaim for its daring and outlandishly large lagoons, which are the size of lakes but largely function like massive swimming pools.

The retail vacancy rate in the third quarter declined to 10.1%, from the 10.2% of both last quarter and the third quarter last year. But the average mall vacancy rate has reached an eight-year high, inching up 0.1% from last quarter to 9.4%, according to real estate research firm Reis. Rent rose 0.2% for the quarter and 0.6% for the year, according to a report emailed to Retail Dive.

Congratulations to PHTA WAVE Young Professional Network Steering Committee Member, Justin Ivey! He is one of our 2019 Young Professionals of the Year. For six years, Justin has been with Blue Wave Pool Service & Supplies, Inc. and is highly active in the Northeast region. He has been instrumental in developing the Northeast Spa & Pool Association’s Rookie to All Star program. Also, he is active within his local community and has worked with the City of Bridgeport to help secure a grant through the Virginia Graeme Baker Pool Safely campaign to provide free Certified Pool Operator classes to pool operators and health officials in the Bridgeport areas. In addition to his industry work, he has a strong background in customer service and information technology and is an accomplished violist. We look forward to seeing what Justin does next.
