Back in 2016, spa manufacturing giant Watkins changed its name to Watkins Wellness. It was an attention-getting move that not only demonstrated the company's commitment to the wellness message, but was also in many ways indicative of the hot tub industry's overall direction. From manufacturers to industry associations such as the National Swimming Pool Foundation, APSP's Hot Tub Council and the International Hot Tub Association, many in the hot tub industry have worked to promote the profound benefits of hydrotherapy.

Most people who invest in a backyard pool have done so for two reasons. 1) They love entertaining and being outdoors. 2) The pool is a great place to spend time with family — and sometimes, those family members are of the four-legged variety.

I compare this to my recent experience at the Capital Grill in Providence, Rhode Island. Our waiter was attentive and made us feel like we were the only customers in the room. There are a ton of restaurants on Newbury Street, as well as in Providence. I'm guessing your business has competitors as well. Do you even have a clue of the impact your employees have on your business?

The adage of, "If you want something done, give it to a busy person" is taken to the next level with good leaders. Some leaders embrace this constant change, seemingly feeding off it. Others, however, push hard with the idea that someday, at some point, if they just do a few more things, it will all settle down. As nice as that may sound, it is often an illusion. Planning to rest at a time in the future that never comes leads to burnout. Instead, for leaders to succeed sustainably, they must find a way to thrive in dynamic environments.

Most are well-acquainted with additive manufacturing (AM) — as a rapid prototyping tool, at least. And while many companies believe and perpetuate the myth that AM is only a prototyping tool, innovators in a range of markets (e.g., aerospace, healthcare, consumer goods and more) are already using AM for production-grade manufacturing when design, performance and cost factors align. This article will help organizations considering switching to additive manufacturing for a part or product.
