Elements of Design
November 2, 4, 10, 12 | Monday/Wednesday – Tuesday/Thursday
6:00 – 10:00 p.m. CT
Taught by Jason Brownlee, this course is an introduction to the fundamentals of good design and will teach you how to lay out the different improvements in your projects – focusing on the elements and principles of design. Once you have a good grasp of the fundamentals, you will learn how to apply them...and will leave the class with a master plan that includes a pool and spa.

GENESIS Construction School: Concrete Pools
November 9 – 12 | Monday - Thursday
6:00 – 10:00 p.m. CT
Greg Andrews, Terry Brannon, and Randy Dukes will take you through the necessary disciplines for building a structurally sound water vessel. Topics covered include site analysis, introductory fluid engineering, geotechnical and structural engineering that includes a review of difficult sites, shotcrete, waterproofing, tile, interior finishes, coping, and concrete decking. You will move through all phases of concrete pool construction in great detail - unlike anything else offered in the industry.

COVID-19 Updates
North Carolina: Governor Roy Cooper has issued an executive order in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Louisiana: This measure exempts certain businesses impacted by COVID-19 from laying license renewal fees for six months following the termination of the declared state of emergency. Status: Sent to Governor Edwards for signature.
Washington, D.C.: This measure requires employers to adopt certain policies for employees who are working during the Coronavirus pandemic. Status: Passed Council.
New York: Governor Andrew Cuomo has issued an executive order in response to the COVID-19 outbreak. This executive order has been extended until November 20.
Iowa: Governor Kim Reynolds issued a new proclamation extends the public health mitigation measures that are currently in place.
New Jersey: This measure reduces or delays increases in employer unemployment taxes related to benefits paid during the COVID-19 pandemic state of emergency.
Maryland: This order provides guidelines for the state as they begin to move into Stage Three of the Maryland Strong: Roadmap to Recovery.

Regulatory Updates
California: The California Energy Commission adopted amendments impacting dedicated-purpose pool pump motors and replacement dedicated-purpose pool pump motors.
Minnesota: The Minnesota Board of Electricity adopted amendments to Chapter 1315 of the Minnesota Rules to incorporate the 2020 National Electrical Code (NEC) without state-specific amendments.

Gatlinburg, TN: On October 20, the Gatlinburg City Council met to discuss updates to pool and spa codes.
Albuquerque, NM: On October 19, 2020, the City Council voted on the final adoption of a Uniform Administrative Code and Technical Codes codifying minimum standards for swimming pool codes.
Boston, MA: On November 19, 2020, the City Committee on the Environmental, Sustainability and Parks discussed a proposal to mandate net-zero carbon emissions from all new buildings.
Brookline, MA: On October 20, 2020, the Board of Selectmen reviewed a resolution promoting decarbonization.
