Pool builders offer $30,000 pool to raise money for kids

Concord Pools & Spas (located outside Albany, New York) and Latham Pool Products, along with several local businesses, teamed up recently to raise money for the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. And they did it in a unique way — using their professional skills and equipment.
In what must be called a labor of love, the group of skilled philanthropists offered a $30,000 dream backyard at a fundraising auction for the NCMEC and then built it for the successful bidders, the Michnes family, at the beginning of August.

China issues plan to promote high-tech manufacturing

China issued an outline recently of policies aimed at promoting high-tech manufacturing after it stopped pushing a strategy that helped trigger a tariff war with Washington.
A statement by the Cabinet's planning agency called for the government to help manufacturers in autos, electronics and other fields. It gave few details about how to carry that out or whether it will involve diplomatically contentious market barriers or subsidies.

New Legislation Being Monitored:

New Regulations Being Monitored:
- Oregon: OR53575
The Oregon Health Authority (Authority), Public Health Division is proposing to permanently amend OAR chapter 333, divisions 029, 030, 031, 060, 062 and 150 relating to food service establishments, tourist facilities and public pools and spas.
- Massachusetts: MA53657
The Board proposed updates to the State Electrical Code. The Board is proposing to adopt the 2020 National Electrical Code, as published by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) as NFPA 70, with state specific amendments. Some of the amendments impact swimming pool pump motors and above-ground pools.

This year, Dec. 3 is dedicated as #GivingTuesday, which is held annually on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving in the U.S. and is widely recognized as the start of the holiday giving season.
