As two organizations, NSPF and APSP competed for many years with separate education systems, code regimes and administrative departments, so untangling these lines will be the work of many months.

We encourage you to view all of the legislative, regulatory and local updates here. If you have any questions, comments or want to get more involved, please contact PHTA's Government Relations Associate, Brendan Scanland at bscanland@phta.org or call 703.647.2558 ext. 165.
Here are some new items that have been brought to our attention recently:
Legislation:
- In Washington, D.C., B 204 has finally seen some action! The measure creates energy efficiency standards for portable electric spas. This measure also prohibits new portable electric spas from being sold or offered for sale, lease or rent beginning a year after the effective date of this measure unless the efficiency of the new product meets or exceeds the efficiency standards of the American National Standard for Portable Electric Spa Energy Efficiency (ANSI/APSP/ICC-14). The measure will be heard on December 9 in the Committee on Transportation and the Environment and is open to the public!
- See two climate related energy efficiency Executive Orders in Maine and Nevada here.
Regulations:
- Be sure to stay up to date with LA 53734: LA Licensing Board for Contractors departmental discussion: Contractor Licensing Rules Hearing. If you do business in LA, click HERE. There is an opportunity for public comments
- WA 53345: (WA Department of Labor and Industries departmental discussion: Electrical Safety Standards) There will be a hearing open to the public regarding amendments to make changes to the 2020 NEC safety codes, update and clarify existing rules, and make housekeeping and other rule changes on December 11.
