According to Patrick Jackson, Plumbing and Electrical Division Manager for Alan Smith Pool Plastering, Inc., located in Orange, California, most residential pools have electrical hazards and violations.
Among other things, Jackson does continuity testing, to verify that pools are properly bonded. He checks for stray voltage in the water itself. He checks GFCI functionality. In general, he verifies that pools are up to the National Electric Code.
And he says most of his pre-site inspections turn up glaring NEC violations.

SMALL BUSINESS MANAGEMENT |
YourMoney
For many of us, Christmas time signals the end of a busy year, a time to slow down, relax and recharge. It’s a time to catch up with family and friends.
But for many business owners, it can mean something else.
The festive season often means a huge disruption to the cash flow of a business.
From a decrease in sales in some industries, to a complete shutdown in others, through to unpaid invoices dragging into the new year, the result is the same: less incoming cash.
Meanwhile, financial commitments such as rent, loan repayments and wages all continue.

The year 2018 was a record year for small business optimism in the U.S., driven by economic strength, government policy and continued efforts among the financial technology and financial services communities to introduce new tools for entrepreneurs — to make running their businesses easier, more efficient and more profitable.

The Bank of America Business Advantage “Fall 2018 Small Business Owner Report” found continued positivity among the nation’s small businesses, and in their outlook for the months ahead.
Yet there remains one pressing challenge for small business owners: a tight labor market, a key hurdle that may slow down SMBs’ growth ambitions.

For many businesses, the initial rush to the cloud was mostly about saving money and keeping up with the competition. Companies were thrilled to avoid major capital expenses for new hardware and software by changing over to monthly subscription charges for cloud services. Not surprisingly, that wasn’t a good enough reason for most manufacturers to make the leap to the cloud. After all, manufacturers are used to spending big chunks of capital on equipment. To stay competitive, they have to invest heavily in expanding facilities, modernizing operations and automating processes. Cloud services may have initially seemed too lightweight or impermanent for a sector focused on tangible assets.
