GBA and Cal Geo Execute a Memorandum of Understanding

On April 7, 2022 the Geoprofessional Business Association (GBA) and the California Geotechnical Engineering Association (CalGeo) formalized an agreement to work together on common goals in an effort to advance engineering, science, continuing education, and public understanding of the geoprofession.

This effort was the result of several months of discussions between the leaders of both groups in support of a common understanding that when we work together, we can elevate the value of the geoprofessions.

In Memory of Kenneth E. Darnell, P.E. Former ASFE President

On April 27, 2022 Kenneth E. “Ken: Darnell, P.E. of Loudon, Tennessee passed away. Ken was a significant contributor to our Association and served on the Board of Directors and as the President of ASFE in 1995-1996. He recognized the importance of mentorship. During his Presidency, he was instrumental in starting the Fundamentals of Professional Practice program which was for many years a rite of passage for rising stars in geoprofessional firms across North America.

Starting May 27, 2022, GBA has scheduled a year-long webinar series to be held on the 4th Friday of each month.  This series, titled 4th Friday 40 will focus on high-value topics to help leaders to be smarter, stronger, and more successful. VHB and Employees Donate $30k to Support Ukrainian Refugees

Employees across our footprint come together to give back.

Since March we have all watched in disbelief at the devastating war and humanitarian crisis unfolding in Ukraine. As a company founded on the principles of stewardship and giving back to our communities, many VHB employees began thinking about how to support the people of Ukraine.

When President and CEO Mike Carragher announced that VHB would match all donations to the USA for UNHCR, employees across our footprint came together and showed their support. In just a few short weeks, VHB raised $30k to support humanitarian and refugee relief in Ukraine.

Klohn Crippen Berger Celebrates Two CEA Awards at 25th Annual Showcase Awards Gala

Consulting Engineers of Alberta (CEA) held their 25th Annual Showcase Awards Gala on April 8, 2022. The evening recognizes excellence in projects completed by the Alberta consulting engineering community. Klohn Crippen Berger (KCB) received two Awards of Excellence in the categories of Community Development and Water Resources for the Glenmore Dam Infrastructure Improvement Project.

Accepting the awards were members of the project team, from left to right, Peter Roy, Civil Engineer, Steve Dold, Leader – City Project Engineering Glenmore, Bob Stirling – GEC Architect, Associate, Mark Schultes, Civil/Structural Engineer, David Mack, Project Manager, and VP, Alberta; and Michael Grisdale, Civil/Structural Engineer. Project team members not in attendance at the event included Max Roberts, Electrical Engineer, Robert Beaumont, Mechanical Engineer, and Patrick Mackie – City Project Engineering Glenmore.
