Construction Safety Helmets vs. Hard Hats: It is Time for a Change

GBA Executive Director

During Construction Safety Month, I started hearing about a new tool for worker safety that seems like a no-brainer.  Historically looked upon as the first choice for head protection, traditional hard hats are no longer the best option. The primary purpose of a hard hat is to protect the head from objects falling from above. We all know, construction sites may have hazards coming from a number of different directions, such as moving beams or stray tools, and donning a safety helmet may better protect the back and sides of the head.

Change is hard. Hard hats are a longstanding symbol of the construction worker. In an effort to provide the best protection for your team, please consider moving beyond the 40-year-old traditional hard hats, embrace change, and improve safety of your employees.
