The U.S. Census Bureau says from 2007, just before the recession hit, to 2010, a year after the recession officially ended, the number of adults ages 25 to 34 living with their parents shot up 26 percent, from 4.7 million to 5.9 million. One look at the economy sheds light on this boomerang phenomenon: Unemployment for adults younger than 24 is double the national mark of 9.1 percent. If the trend of moving back home with the folks persists, it will dial back the societal clock approximately 60 years. More

So when Amsterdam-based i29 interior architects was brought in to design Tribal DDB's offices, it started thinking of creative ways to mute the clamor that made it difficult for people to concentrate on projects. Following the first positive score in four months, the Architecture Billings Index reversed direction again in September. The September ABI score was 46.9, following a score of 51.4 in August. This score reflects a sharp decrease in demand for design services (any score above 50 indicates an increase in billings). The new projects inquiry index was 54.3, down from a reading of 56.9 the previous month. More
