Taking Directions from the Lost
IP Watchdog

Brookings wants new regulations imposed on university and federal laboratory patent licensing, presenting theoretical problems with no supporting facts.

Evolving Partnerships: Academia, Pharma and Venture Groups Adapt to Challenging Times
Science Direct

Several times a week, Markus Frank, Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at Harvard Medical School, meets with scientists from Pfizer, with whom he is collaborating. Their mutual goal, which joins Frank and a postdoc with Pfizer antibody engineers, toxicologists and other skilled hands, is to further develop a strategy for targeting stem cells in malignant melanoma that Frank has worked on for six years. There's no need to commute to the pharmaceutical giant's R&D facilities or connect through Skype. Face-to-face meetings can even happen spur-of-the-moment, since Pfizer's Boston-based Center for Therapeutic Innovation (CTI) is directly across Longwood Avenue from Frank's lab.

Plastic Logic Proposes a Futuristic Kind of Paper
TIME
Share

For all the guilt-tripping about dead trees, we still can't live without paper. But some day, we may be able to use flexible sheets of digital ink instead. At the Consumer Electronics Show, U.K.-based Plastic Logic demonstrated an E-Ink "tablet" dubbed the PaperTab, which was little more than a thick, floppy sheet of plastic, connected to a high-end Core processor from Intel. Each of these sheets can accept touch input and can share data when in contact with one another.
