Animated Dynamics Inc. officials has announced it has raised $1.7 million in a Series A equity funding round through Indianapolis-based private equity firm Caravel Ventures with co-investments from funds managed byElevate Ventures, Purdue Research Foundation and Vestian. The funds will be used to accelerate commercialization of Animated Dynamics' patented biodynamic imaging technology, called Motility Contrast Tomography (MCT), to improve targeted cancer treatments.

The concept of an electronic skin capable of carrying information and sensing your environment is nothing new; many researchers are working on this type of cutting-edge wearable. The biggest hindrance to the commercialization of such materials is their production process — many of these prototypes take time to fabricate and use expensive components. An international team of researchers from the University of Illinois at Chicago and Korea University may have overcome this stumbling block by developing a breakthrough process that allows them to produce an e-skin in just a few minutes using a commercially viable process.

AUTM is proud to announce the receipt of the Burroughs Wellcome Fund Career Guidance Grant to support the development of its Technology Transfer Training Program. The Program was created to provide extensive training for science and engineering students who are interested in a career in academic technology transfer with the goal of placing them in technology transfer offices.
The eight-month program will identify, train and prepare graduate and postdoctoral students to transition into the world of academic technology transfer professionals. Deadline for applying is Thursday, June 30.
