Center Aids Rutgers Faculty, Students in Turning Innovation into Commercial Success

Osceola, UCF Confident About Building Research Center

With about half of the nearly $200 million they need, the University of Central Florida and Osceola County officials said that they are confident they can quickly build a state-of-the-art research facility in Kissimmee to create "smart" sensors. M.J. Soileau, UCF's vice president of research and commercialization, said the partners will work aggressively in coming months to find more money. They plan to ask state and local government organizations for help, he said.

Virginia Researchers to Share $550,000 Grant

Four University of Virginia researchers are sharing a $550,000 award to help drive economic growth in the state. The funding, from Virginia's Center for Innovative Technology, provides awards from a fund to advance science and technology-based research, development and commercialization.
Grants Help Florida State Researchers Commercialize Their Discoveries

Three researchers at Florida State University are recipients of a total $62,000 in grants this month to explore the commercial business potential of their discoveries. Alexey Kovalev, Branko Stefanovic and Mei Zhang were candidates for the funding provided through the FSU Office of Research under GAP, the university's Grant Assistance Program.

Rival Schools Partner to Bring Oral Cancer-Fighting Patch to Patients

The Ohio State University and the University of Michigan have signed an exclusive worldwide agreement with Ohio–based Venture Therapeutics, Inc., to form a new company to develop and commercialize a pharmaceutical technology targeted for the treatment of precancerous oral lesions. These lesions are currently managed by invasive surgery and approximately a third of these lesions will reoccur after surgery.
