Colorado Awarded $3 Million for Transformational Power Plant

University of Colorado Boulder
The University of Colorado Boulder has received a $3 million federal grant to develop cooling technology that will enable efficient, low-cost supplementary cooling for thermoelectric power plants. The grant spans three years and is from the U.S. Department of Energy's Advanced Research Projects Agency-Energy (ARPA-E).
Hawaii Medical School Researcher Scores US Patent for Heart Therapy

A University of Hawaii medical researcher has scored a utility patent from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office to develop a therapy to prevent and treat heart failure. Dr. Alexander James Stokes, an assistant professor of cell and molecular biology at the John A. Burns School of Medicine, conducted preliminary research and preclinical trials and applied for the patent in 2010.
University and Regional Entrepreneurs to be Featured on New WOUB Series

Ohio entrepreneurship will be the featured topic of a new radio series produced by WOUB Public Media. The series, "Innovation Conversations," will air on WOUB 1340 AM and the WOUB FM radio network starting Friday, Sept. 4. The shows also will be available online at woub.org and through WOUB social media channels.
"Innovation Conversations" will launch with 15 interviews with individuals involved in the advancement of technology commercialization and entrepreneurship both at Ohio University and throughout southeastern Ohio. The region has attracted attention for its innovative approaches to — and successes in — cultivating startup companies over the last decade.
