New Lexington FFA makes elementary connections

Over the course of the past couple of weeks the New Lexington High School FFA members have taught elementary students about farm life and the welding life. Both of these activities were designed to get the elementary students excited about the new possibilities. The farm motivates them about what they can learn in the FFA Program. The welding program was designed to get students to think about the possibilities of becoming a welder and educating them on the opportunities it can offer.

Rosatom uses new welding technologies at Rooppur

Rosatom's Engineering Division said on December 2 the serial use of two types of automatic orbital welding machines has been launched at the Rooppur nuclear power plant under construction in Bangladesh. Use of the new automatic welding machines had been agreed with the design organisation and supervisory authorities as a result of joint work by Energospecmontazh JSC and the Centre for Technology Transfer and Technical Policy of ASE.

Kiski Area welding students show their skills at Weld Off competition

Two Kiski Area High School seniors were among the competitors in the 40th annual Weld Off, sponsored by the American Welding Society. Phillip Miller and Nathaniel Potanko, fourth-year students in the welding program at Northern Westmoreland Career and Technology Center in New Kensington, welded for several hours at Steamfitters Local No. 449 in Jackson in Butler County.
