On July 1, Connecticut and most of the region will transition to ultra low sulfur home heating oil. This change limits the sulfur content of heating oil to a maximum of 15ppm. The Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) had notified CEMA earlier in the spring that they will exercise their authority to allow for any product with a maximum sulfur content of 500ppm to be transported, stored and combusted after the deadline as long as it was in storage prior to July 1.

After defeating two proposals this year to allow for online lottery in Connecticut, the Supreme Court's ruling on sports wagering opened the door for the Connecticut Lottery Corporation to make another run at online/I-Lottery. After CEMA's work with several legislative leaders, Gov. Malloy recently stated that there is not enough information or support to allow for online gambling of any kind this year (including lottery games).

Bill S.B. 476 that passed this spring exempts deliveries made to storage tanks at marinas from the diesel excise tax, effective July 1, 2018. This only applies when making deliveries to a storage tank owned by a marina — it doesn't apply when making deliveries directly to a boat.

The gas utility tariffs for June 2018 are in. You can compare these rates to your own prices. Gas tariffs were up for Eversource and CNG and down for SCG, compared to last month. These utility tariffs below are expressed in heating oil gallon equivalents, and so present gas rates on a British thermal unit (Btu) to Btu equivalent basis with heating oil.
