CEMA
CEMA has filed a motion with the Public Utility Regulatory Authority (PURA) to participate in a regulatory docket that is on a fast track to build an electric charging infrastructure, subsidize the cost of electric vehicles, and create rates for EV's. The ultimate goal is to dramatically reduce greenhouse gas emissions in Connecticut by transitioning 500,000 internal combustion engines to EV's by 2030. CEMA is asking members to meet with policy makers to talk about the impact that this docket will have on their business and their employees.

The intention of the program was to make the biodiesel that retailers blend with ultra low sulfur heating oil a part of a program that obligated parties (ie. electric generators) can access to comply with emission standards.

As the weather gets colder, the need for heating oil goes up. However, there is some fortunate news for consumers in the area. Chris Herb, president of the Connecticut Energy Marketers’ Association (CEMA), said for Norwich, heating oil prices have been lower in 2019 than in 2018. Herb said that last year, the average price was $2.83 per gallon. Now, it’s $2.79 per gallon. He this was due to increases in crude oil reserves. This plan is being initiated by an unelected panel populated by bureaucrats making six-figure salaries. They are promising to use this money to promote electric cars, buses and sustainable activities like bicycles and walking.
