State moves to dismiss CEMA's natural gas expansion lawsuit
CEMA
This week, the week of Dec. 8, the State of Connecticut made a motion in Hartford Superior court to dismiss CEMA’s natural gas expansion lawsuit that was filed in October. The State is claiming that the court does not have jurisdiction over this matter and is asking that it be dismissed. The state also contends that the gas expansion plan is a private action being taken by the utilities, therefore an environmental impact evaluation is not needed.

CEMA
Senators Tom Carper, D-Delaware, and Bob Corker, R-Tennessee, two of the Senate’s staunchest gas tax hike supporters, ruled out any lame duck action on raising the gas tax after being told by Speaker Boehner, R-Ohio, that there is no chance the House could consider such a measure this year. Earlier this year, Senators Chris Murphy, D-Connecticut, and Bob Corker, R-Tennessee, proposed a 12 cents-per-gallon tax increase for both gasoline and diesel fuel over the next two years and indexing to inflation in order to replenish the Highway Trust Fund.
