North looks to improve airport safety with new technology

Western Arctic MP Dennis Bevington says he supports a recommendation that would see GPS units installed at both ends of Arctic airport runways. The number of passengers travelling through Windsor's airport has soared since 2008. Windsor International Airport CEO Federica Nazzani said passenger traffic is up from 96,000 in 2008 to 250,000 per year in 2012. Nearly 40 pilots landed at the Merritt Airport for the Merritt Flying Club's fourth pancake breakfast and fly-in, and volunteers served up over 80 breakfasts to hungry visitors. "This was the biggest one we've ever had, and everyone was tickled pink with the product," said flying club Secretary Treasurer Herb Graham. "We had a lot of great compliments and it just keeps getting bigger every time we do it." More

Whether a girl or a boy, defence minister Peter MacKay hopes his first child will consider joining cadets. MacKay announced on his Facebook that he and wife Nazanin Afshin-Jam are expecting a baby in the spring.
