    Government of Canada invests in safety at St. Andrews Airport
    James Bezan, member of Parliament for Selkirk-Interlake, on behalf of the Honourable Lisa Raitt, Minister of Transport, announced funding for an important safety improvement project at the St. Andrews Airport. The St. Andrews Airport is receiving $203,784, through the Airports Capital Assistance Program, for the replacement of a plow truck for the removal of snow which will help maintain the safe operation of the airfield for both passengers and employees. "The St. Andrews Airport is an important aviation hub for local residents, businesses, trade and tourism," said Bezan. "This funding will enhance the safety of all those who use this airport, especially the communities and businesses in this region."

    STARS unveils faster, stronger chopper

STARS Air Ambulance unveiled its new $16 million Calgary-based helicopter, which was paid for by donors. "It really has been a voyage of persistence," said STARS founder Gregory Powell, referring to the non-profit's massive fundraising effort.

    Toronto windsock is tattered and full of holes

    Some socks are meant to have a hole in them, but when the holes outnumber toes, it's time to find another. Downsview in Toronto has a long history tied to de Havilland Canada, which built a manufacturing facility in the 1920s along with an airstrip to test its planes. The plant manufactured planes used in the World War II, while the airstrip was expanded and became a Royal Canadian Air Force base after the war.

    Airline executive praises pilot skill in emergency landing

    Officials at Mokulele Airlines in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii, praised the pilot and co-pilot who successfully landed a commuter flight on Maui's Pi'ilani Highway. "We are very grateful that due to the skill of our pilots and support team, this flight was able to land safely," said Mokulele CEO Ron Hansen in a statement.
