CPRS is excited to launch its new Website platform to improve your ability to network online, download resources you need in your daily work and find education and training opportunities to keep you abreast of upcoming trends.
New or improved features for the New CPRS Website include:

- Improved navigation, look and feel
In preparation to move content from the old community pages to the new community pages, you will not have access to your District or Section community groups starting Tuesday, May 26. This also includes the new COVID-19 community group. All content will be pulled over from all the active groups. The CPRS general html pages will still be available for you to access during the content migration.

Social distancing is now a little easier at the Little Marina Green Picnic Area in San Francisco amid the coronavirus pandemic. Recently, the Recreation and Parks Department painted circles on the grass along Marina Blvd., near the yacht harbor. Circles were also painted at Dolores Park in the Mission District.

Valley Roadrunner
The Valley Center Parks & Rec District board will hold a teleconference hearing June 16, 6 p.m. on a resolution to apply to LAFCO (Local Agency Formation Commission) for reorganization and to dissolve itself so it can become part of the County of San Diego as a County Service Area (CSA.)
This would give the new CSA access to County resources to bring the area’s parks up to County standards and to possibly develop facilities such as Star Valley Park.

In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, the East Bay Regional Park District, or EBRPD, launched a webpage called Parks to People on April 10 that features digital learning programs, including an app with virtual and augmented reality capabilities.
The virtual and augmented reality app allows EBRPD patrons to experience the park from their homes during the pandemic.

With temperatures climbing around the Bay Area on Tuesday, the city of San Jose’s Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Services Department made a last-second decision to open five cooling centers.
Cooling centers opened at Mayfair Community Center, Camden Community Center, Seven Trees Community Center, Roosevelt Community Center and Cypress Community Center “to provide residents with a cool place to beat the heat,” according to a city press release.

Public pools will look very different this summer if they open at all with the coronavirus threat still looming, as staffers will be tasked with maintaining social distancing and spotting COVID-19 symptoms in addition to their primary duties.
Pools that do plan to open will take precautions, including screening temperatures on entry, requiring lifeguards to wear masks and significantly reducing the number of swimmers allowed in the water and locker rooms, said Dr. Justin Sempsrott, the medical director for the lifeguard certification program Starguard Elite and executive director of Lifeguards Without Borders, which works to reduce drownings worldwide.

Urban Flood Protection Program Grant
The California Natural Resources Agency has updated deadlines for proposal submission for the Urban Flood Protection and Urban Greening Grant Programs.
Urban Flood Protection Program proposals must be submitted by June 15, 2020 at 5:00 pm and Urban Greening Program proposals by July 15, 2020 at 5:00 pm. Proposals must be submitted via the System for Online Application Review (SOAR). SOAR can be accessed here.
