PJM files update to energy market price formation rules with FERC
PJM Interconnection filed a proposal with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission to update its energy market price formation rules, due to an impasse among its stakeholders.

When Hurricane Maria shattered Puerto Rico's power grid in 2017, it set off the longest major blackout in U.S. history. The island territory's political leaders faced a choice: rebuild the long-troubled centralized electric grid, which had been powered largely by imported diesel fuel and coal, or ditch the costly fuel imports and start over by building a more resilient grid powered by clean energy.
European Court rules German renewable energy subsidy allowed under EU law
The European Court of Justice ruled that Germany did not violate EU law when the member state implemented a renewable energy surcharge to help level the energy market for its domestic renewable energy providers.

FERC Practice in the D.C. Circuit – A View from the Bench
Join the FERC Practice Committee on May 16, 2019 in Washington, DC for an afternoon program. D.C. Circuit Judges Laurence Silberman and Patricia Millett, along with FERC Solicitor Bob Solomon and seasoned appellate litigator Miguel Estrada will discuss how the Judges approach the court’s review of FERC cases and how those cases fit into modern debates about statutory interpretation and agency deference.
