Police body cameras could conflict with Florida's public records law
The Tampa Tribune
Nanette Schimpf, spokeswoman for the Florida Sheriffs Association, said her group was concerned the bill would apply to all audio and video recordings, including audio recordings at jails and dashboard camera video. "We are proposing a minimum record retention threshold be set, just like all other records in Florida," she said.

Port St. Lucie man arrested for inducing, then extorting children into sexual performance

The Saint Lucie County Sheriff's office says they received a tip last month from the Los Angeles Police Department that an adult male living on the Treasure Coast was extorting young girls into sexual behavior, all via social media and the Internet.

Florida teens get sick from hash oil-laced brownies

The Volusia County Sheriff's Office said four students at Spruce Creek High School were taken to a hospital and several others went home after eating the brownies. Deputies said one of the students was so impaired that he could barely speak.

Florida woman accused of faking cancer to steal money from well-wishers

"It just seems so implausible that someone would use a horrible illness like cancer for personal gain," the case's lead detective, Det. John Bergen, said in a statement. "Johanneson hurt so many people, from people that loved her to people that hardly knew her but wanted to help … It really is unbelievable."

Sheriff: Cash and gambling devices seized in searches
The Herald-Tribune
Detectives seized roughly $117,000 in cash and more than 500 illegal electronic gambling devices, according to the Sheriff's Office. The search warrants were executed on Feb. 27 and March 12 following undercover investigations.
