FSP
Calling all residents, fellows, trainees and students — Submit your digital poster for inclusion in the Digital Poster Competition at the FSP 44th Annual Anatomic Pathology Conference taking place on February 16-18, 2018 in Orlando, Florida. Residents, fellows, trainees and students who are resident members of the FSP and enrolled in a full time approved training program in pathology or sub-specialty of pathology in the state of Florida are welcome to participate in the Digital Poster Competition.
Posters will be displayed in the digital poster hall during the conference for all attendees to view on Friday, February 16 and Saturday February 17. Submitted posters will be judged by other experts in the field. Aside from being an opportunity to showcase your research, winners will be announced, and prizes will be awarded to the top 3 presenters during the business luncheon on Saturday, February 17. A team from the Rutgers New Jersey Medical School reduced the volume of preanesthesia testing and cut costs by 47 percent by applying patient-centered practice guidelines, according to a study presented here at Anesthesiology 2017 from the American Society of Anesthesiologists. Moreover, no change in clinical outcomes was associated with the reduction in testing.

Alterations in four main genes are responsible for how long patients survive with pancreatic cancer, according to a new study in JAMA Oncology. Before now, the presence and patterns between the genes and disease progression was not clearly established. One key difference in this study is the relatively large size: it involved 356 patients who all had pancreatic adenocarcinoma that could be surgically removed.
