Goldman Sachs analyst Bill Shope released a somewhat troubling report for Apple bulls, saying demand for the iPad is fading. He's not adjusting his estimates for iPad sales, but he does think Apple will have to do something to address the first hiccup in the iPad's growth.

Taking the lead from Amazon, Kobo is now selling a $99.99 Kobo Touch with Offers, $30 off the regular price. The ad-supported Kobo Touch is supposed to start shipping in two to three weeks. Like the Kindle with Special Offers, the Kobo Touch with Offers includes "sponsored screens and valuable offers when your device is powered off or in sleep mode, and in other discreet places that are always outside of the reading experience, like on the bottom of your home screen."

A new U.S. Department of Agriculture report says sales of "local foods," whether sold direct to consumers at farmers markets or through intermediaries such as grocers or restaurants, amounted to $4.8 billion in 2008. That's a number several times greater than earlier estimates, and the department predicts locally grown foods will generate $7 billion in sales this year.
