Even though fall is in the air, spring is on Pantone's mind. As the color authority for the design industry, they have to work several seasons ahead to stay on top of trends. That's why they decided to reveal the upcoming hues for spring 2017 at the end of New York Fashion Week. The results? Let's just say color is going to be bold and bright next year.
When remodeling a kitchen, selecting countertops, cabinets, hardware and other high-impact items is often prioritized, while kitchen lighting is left for the end or tacked on as an afterthought. Any designer will tell you, though, that lighting is essential to every space, especially a functional one like the kitchen.
Truth be told, I'm not a fan of the accent wall. But if you insist on giving this trend a try, here’s how to do it in a fresh way.

Each designer has his or her own unique vision and talents. Design businesses, on the other hand, have a lot in common, especially the back office operation. Why duplicate efforts? Share the load with another designer. That allows you to spend more time doing what you do best. These are difficult times for many sole practitioners and smaller firms. They just are not getting the volume or level of projects they're accustomed to. That's putting a financial strain on their businesses.

Ace Hardware, the largest retailer-owned hardware cooperative in the world, revealed fall's must-have design and paint trends, courtesy of Ace's Design Experts Nathan Fischer, Katie Reynolds and Julie Richard. This season's trends combine the crisp, soothing essence of autumn foliage with soft pastels to help consumers bring outdoor-inspired colors into their homes.
A bountiful flower arrangement on the dinner table is a party planner’s go-to. “The centerpiece is often the starting point for an entire party concept — it’s the easiest way to add wow factor to a table, and can help decide the direction of all other decorative details,” says lifestyle blogger Camille Styles. But blooms can make a sizable dent in your budget and prompt sneeze attacks the minute you sit down. If that’s the case, a bare table isn’t the only option. Styles is a big believer in switching it up with unexpected elements.
The end of summer is always bittersweet. But it’s also a fresh start — the beginning of autumn's glow, watching leaves turn and establishing routines as kids go back to school. That makes it the perfect time to hit the refresh button on your home. So how can you get your house ready for the season while staying on trend? Help welcome guests this holiday season with a few curb appeal-boosting tips from the window and door experts at Pella Windows and Doors.
