New Orleans CVB to provide $2.5 million to bolster safety efforts

The New Orleans Convention and Visitors Bureau announced that it will provide $2.5 million to help fund additional Louisiana State Police patrols within the city beyond this month's Mardi Gras celebration.
According to the Associated Press, the city is fighting against a rise in violent crime, and with a busy spring tourism season expected, the CVB aims to provide a safe environment for visitors and keep the focus on what makes The Big Easy one of the most exciting places in the world to visit.

Keene police chief: 2015 Pumpkin Festival safety would come at a price

As city officials weigh the future of the Keene Pumpkin Festival, a key factor could be whether they can protect residents and streets from the mayhem that erupted outside last year's event. Organizer Ruth Sterling has said publicly in recent weeks that the city's police chief has "assured" her he can develop a comprehensive plan to keep the neighborhoods near the festival safe.
Gusts damage Newport Festival tents

High winds swept ashore on Feb. 8, causing extensive damage to the Newport Seafood & Wine tents for the second year in a row.
The 38th annual Seafood & Wine Festival is scheduled for Feb. 19-22. The Greater Newport Area Chamber of Commerce sponsors the event. Chamber Executive Director Lorna Davis was on scene as wind gusts began to topple sections of the north tent.

Australian Blues Music Festival 2015: Free taxi vouchers

To help promote safety during this year's Australia Blues Music Festival, Goulburn Mulwaree Council has two hundred $10 taxi vouchers to give away.
Council has produced two hundred $10 vouchers that will be sponsored by the Roads and Maritime Service (RMS) this year, with 100 available from the Goulburn Visitor's Information Centre from Feb. 5 and another 100 being handed out at venues during the Australian Blues Music Festival weekend.
