Natural timber, white-painted brick, and gingham fabric can be found inside RedFarm, a dim-sum restaurant inspired by a farmer's market, designed by Brooklyn-based Crème.
With two branches in New York already, the newly opened London eatery is the chain's first in the UK. Located in a three-story building in London's theatre district, the outpost is designed by architect and designer Jun Aizaki, whose studio Crème also created RedFarm's New York branches.

Since launching in 2014, the online beauty brand Glossier has achieved cult status with its minimal, feminine aesthetic, affordable makeup and skincare products, and engaging social-media presence. For the design of the company’s first brick-and-mortar store in New York, founder Emily Weiss pulled together an all-female team to translate Glossier’s online identity into physical form: architect Miriam Peterson of Peterson Rich Office, a 2018 Record Vanguard pick; interior designer Christine Gachot of Gachot Studios; and lighting designer Sara McElroy of Silver Shoe Design.

Interior Design
The first welcoming gesture is the expansive timber roof, its large overhangs evoking the idea of shelter. “The look and feel of the building reflect the community,” Perkins+Will design principal Duff Balmer says. Accents in red, a color considered auspicious by many people across Asia, appear throughout the branch library and fitness areas inside. In the library, red appears on a play area’s carpet tile and the underside of a staircase. Wrapping the triple-height pool area, strips of glass with red film punctuate the curtain wall, which elsewhere integrates a crimson frit pattern.

The result of a four-year partnership with real estate firm Bedrock Detroit, the Shinola Hotel’s 138,000 square feet comprises of two historic buildings and three new spaces. “The brand was built by the city and its people, so we pieced every aspect of the hotel together with Detroit in mind,” says Shinola’s creative director Daniel Caudill. He collaborated with the New York–based design firm Gachot Studios to transform the famed T.B. Rayl & Co. department store into a variety of social spaces, including a pink-and-black Evening Bar and the Living Room lounge, where scores of local artists have surrounded the original Deco staircase leading to upper guest floors with eye-popping new paintings and sculptures.
