These attributes are applicable not only to the design of the workplace but to the evolution of a culture that quickly generates, shares, and assesses the economic viability of an idea.

Ascalon says the design aims help break up Times Square’s chaotic and bustling spaces, carving out sheltered areas for sitting and relaxing. To make that divide clear, some of the seats (which are topped with ipe wood) and planters rise to waist-height.

Graham Thompson is the founder of Optimo, a men’s hat company based in Chicago’s South Side. Last year, when it came time to move someplace larger, he found the ideal venue in a 1914 firehouse about a mile from his original location. People are really good at talking, but they're very bad at listening.
Even more, people are often really bad at asking questions. Research has found that people who don't ask questions in attempts of looking smart are actually viewed as less smart to other people.
