Intellectual property law is a growing field and with it there are more categories being added into what can and cannot be protected from a legal standpoint. Interior design is an emerging concept of controversy because if you can protect an item, one by which you have designed on paper, assembled the materials for, and then produced in 3-D, why should you not be able to protect an assembly of those items? Part of the problem is that there is no legal definition for what exactly constitutes an interior design. A recent case by Apple has brought this question to an international level.
