None of us are as smart as all of us. We need each other more than ever. ISAE has been around for over
55 years. Like your association it has had its ups and downs. Yet like your association it’s the members, it’s the volunteer leaders, it’s that collective of individuals coming together to lift each other up that in turn lifts up the association and the profession.
You will see from this pictographic the parts (cogs) that currently are a part of ISAE membership. ISAE staff and volunteer leaders are constantly reviewing what ISAE offers to remain relevant and responsive to members and the association profession as a whole. We keep our mission to the forefront in all that we do. ISAE’s mission is “Promote excellence and advance leadership in the Illinois association community.”
Special kudos to the Communications Committee, especially Board liaison, Deann French and committee member Rachel Romines for the design and effort going into our new branding campaign.

Please review an article from an ASA supplier. The results might surprise you. And look in the next month or so for an ISAE sponsored event on this very topic - virtual planning.

Association Success
One of the best ways to manage change is through enforcing and developing our key relationships. For associations, that means reaching out more regularly to our members. Sometimes the best way to do that isn’t by retooling an email newsletter or coming up with a punchier message for social media: It’s by picking up the phone and dialing.

Smooth the Path
Two years ago, the three most popular and effective new member onboarding tactics were emails, phone calls, and welcoming new members at in-person events, events like chapter meetings, or conferences. We can still call and email, but how do you convey that lovely, warm, in-person welcome we used to provide at events? Here are a few ideas.

"What's measured improves," said Peter Drucker, management consultant and author. Identifying metrics improves the strategic planning process. Metrics are the expected outcomes, data, timelines and assignments to carry out the mission. "How will we measure success?" should be a frequent question at planning and board meetings. Recommendations without metrics will be difficult to gauge achievements. During strategic planning, ask leaders to consider performance, including measurables, assignments and timelines.

Webinars are an easy way to effectively present important information and content to interested audiences.
