This year’s sessions will feature briefs on timely issues as well as how best to communicate The Power of Associations to your elected officials. In addition, you will get valuable face time with colleagues from your home state, association CEOs, the ASAE Board of Directors, and other leaders in the association community. For more details on the American Associations Day, visit the Fly-In website.

The bad news: You have an ineffective board of directors. The good news: They know it and ask for help. This is the perfect opportunity to re-engineer decision-making in your organization and increase nimbleness and innovation. But how do we avoid looking at just the term of office, term limits, roles of board and staff that is discussed, blogged and written about over and over? How can we go beyond and challenge our thinking about an innovative structure that is dynamic and nimble?
As technology continues to evolve and expand, the key elements that drive revenue bearing credentialing programs are broadening at an exponential rate. That, coupled with the fact that the workforce is made up of roughly five different generations, presents associations with a unique opportunity to turn what is perhaps considered old-school educational offerings into something exciting and innovative.
You have a team of volunteers on board and active! Now the question is, how do you keep them on board and active? It’s so important to thank your volunteers and recognize their efforts. Remember, volunteers are under no obligation to continue sharing their time and talents. They continue because they want to and because they know their efforts are appreciated.
Gaining more followers on social media is an attainable goal for any association out there. It takes dedication, but if your organization can implement these techniques across your channels, growth of followers will certainly follow.
The Demand Networks
Is there a process that can help associations achieve our missions, stay in business, find problems worth solving and make a real and meaningful difference for our members, achieving the sustainable, dynamic impact we seek? There is: lean startup methodology.
Event Manager Blog
Events of all kinds can be leveraged as content machines. Nearly every person who touches an event will either be providing content, asking for content, or learning from content. Events provide content before the event, during the event and after to engage with a large, diverse audience and build relationships. For those who do not take full advantage of content at events, you’re definitely missing out on a big learning opportunity.
Want to get your attendees’ input as you put together your next conference? Asking them to cast a vote is one way to do it — and it may lead to happier and more engaged attendees.
