Instead, she channeled all of her time, attention and energy toward one goal: finding a kidney. It wasn't any simpler than a full-time job.

During the previous week, the country has seen about as much tragedy as anyone could bear, especially within the city of Orlando.
Through the rapid-fire response of media, many have been quick to respond, with global outpourings of sympathy and expressions of support. Unfortunately, the opposite has also been true, as politicians and citizens have posted critical, irresponsible messages on social media, with a few maybe patting themselves on the back, offering "I told you so" as a response to grieving survivors.

Black and Asian patients are dying needlessly on transplant waiting lists because of a failure by NHS health chiefs to tackle a desperate shortage of ethnic-minority donors, according to a top surgeon. And now an investigation has revealed that while the NHS body that co-ordinates all such procedures in Britain has reduced overall numbers on the waiting lists, the number of black, Asian and minority ethnic (BAME) patients have risen steadily by 38 percent over the past ten years.

For about two months, Carrie Giddens’ family camped out in a waiting room at Scott & White Hospital. They were waiting for her organ transplant and subsequent recovery.
They lacked privacy and the ability to take a good shower, Giddens said. “If they would have had a place to go just to have some privacy and take a decent shower it would have changed their morale a lot,” she said. “It would have been easier if they had a place to go relax outside of the hospital walls.”

With fewer co-existing diseases, young organ transplant recipients typically see better outcomes than their adult counterparts.
But for some children and youths, the option of a transplant may not be viable for a host of reasons.
The National University Hospital (NUH), the only public hospital here with a paediatric kidney and liver transplant programme, sees five to seven children and youths each year with newly diagnosed end-stage renal disease who are best treated with a kidney transplant.

Montenegrins are divided over the decision of the authorities to switch to a system called "presumed consent," which means that everyone will be considered an organ donor unless they sign up to specifically opt out.
Transplant patients and their families have welcomed the decision to change the rules so that people do not have to sign up in order to donate their organs after death.
However, opposition MPs and some human rights organizations allege a serious violation of the constitution and of human rights and freedoms.

Stop me if you have heard this before, but there are not enough psychiatrists to meet the current demands of our population. Research indicates that as many as 45,000 additional psychiatrists are needed. Couple that with residency slots remaining stagnant over the past decade and the fact that 50 percent of psychiatrists are over age 55, and it is clear that psychiatrists alone will not meet this daunting need.
