Through USA TODAY, targeted distribution and vast online/social media outlets, this publication, both in print and online, will reach an estimated one million readers. ITNS will have print copies of the publication to pass out at the Symposium next year in Chicago. In the meantime, please share the article on your social media accounts for even greater exposure.
Orlando, Florida was the outstanding venue for bringing more than 250 nurses together for the Transplant Nursing Symposium presented by ITNS! One of the many interactive sessions included the Ethics Panel led by Dr. Cynthia Russell and Ms. Wendy Escobedo. The discussion surrounded patient adherence and exploring the patient’s experience of adherence.
Conference attendees used Polleverywhere.com technology to “text” their experiences and guide the panel discussion. One interactive response question included the potential barriers to adherence.
Another question asked by our panelists to the group: What are some behaviors your facility considers non-adherence?

However, one thing that remains constant is the desire of healthcare workers to provide excellent care. So the challenge is figuring out how front-line healthcare providers can implement evidence-based practice into their daily patient care.

"Knowing the patient's risk is critical to help prevent the frequent cardiac complications that accompany liver transplant surgery and to determine which patients are likely to survive the transplant," said Dr. Lisa VanWagner, an assistant professor of medicine and preventive medicine at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine and a Northwestern Medicine physician.
