Candymaker Haribo is building a manufacturing plant in Kenosha County that's expected to create as many as 400 jobs, Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker announced.
Germany-based Haribo, maker of the popular "GoldBear" gummy candies, is planning to build a $242 million, 500,000-square-foot manufacturing plant in Pleasant Prairie. It is expected to be completed in 2020.

A Nielsen survey revealed organic items were found on the shelves of kitchen cupboards and in the refrigerators of 82.3 percent of American households in 2016, the Organic Trade Association said March 23. The national average climbed 3.4 percent from 2015 to 2016.
North Dakota had the highest jump, increasing 14.2 percent from 2015 to 2016 to reach 85.6 percent of households. Following North Dakota in the ranking of biggest increases were Rhode Island, up 12.3 percent to 88.3 percent; Wyoming, up 10.8 percent to 90 percent; South Dakota, up 10 percent to 68.9 percent; and Wisconsin, up 9.1 percent to 77.6 percent.

U.S. honey production from operations with five or more colonies totaled 161,882,000 pounds in 2016, up 3 percent from 156,544,000 lbs a year earlier, the Agriculture Department said in its annual honey report March 22.
Honey was harvested from 2,775,000 colonies (operations with five or more colonies) in 2016, up 4 percent from 2,660,000 colonies in 2015 and the highest colony count since 1994, the USDA said.
