The presentation of little cakes in their own paper cases give us another idea as to why they were becoming popular: they were fashionable and well turned out. Teatime was well bedded in as a social occasion by this time, and small treats, neatly encased in their own wrapper, were easy and tidy to eat. But cupcakes also catered for a new sort of femininity, one which put ever-increasing emphasis on appearance, dress, and physical beauty–including, from the 1840s, the desire to stay trimly corseted into an hourglass shape.

The National Association of Concessionaires (NAC) along with the International Association of Venue Managers (IAVM) are excited to announce that the two trade associations have entered into an Alliance Partnership Agreement. As part of the agreement, the two Associations have agreed to work together in sharing information and content in media outlets, press releases and social media networks to the benefit of their respective memberships. Also, each group has agreed to cross-promote two major events that will both take place in Minneapolis in July. NAC will host the Concession & Hospitality Expo on July 19-22 at the Depot Renaissance in Minneapolis. IAVM will host their Venue Connect just a few days later on July 23-26 at the Minneapolis Convention Center.

KIND Healthy Snacks has announced that the FDA has ruled that it can use the term "healthy" on its packaging.
This ruling marks a reversal in the FDA's position. A year ago, it issued a warning letter to KIND requesting the removal of the word "healthy" from the back panel of four KIND wrappers and its website.

On National Pretzel Day, pretzel lovers from across the country gathered at Ben’s Soft Pretzels, an Amish-inspired soft pretzel franchise, to redeem a free pretzel in exchange for a $1 donation to the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund. With a goal to beat last year’s inaugural Pretzel Day donation of $15,000, the soft pretzel bakery rounded out the pretzel holiday with 20,000 free pretzels distributed and a grand donation total of $30,000 raised in one day.

Hershey's may have a mega-hit on its hands, as rumors that a Reese's Pieces-Reese's Peanut Butter Cup will debut this summer are already going viral.
The rumors apparently began with a Facebook post by Marlena Courchain on April 28, containing blurry pictures of Reese's Peanut Butter Cups filled with Reese's Pieces. Courchain hinted in her post that the chocolatey mashup would be released in July.
