Mars is savoring the sweet taste of success.
The company's Skittles brand is now the No. 1 non-chocolate candy by market share across all retail channels, followed by Lifesavers and Hershey's Twizzlers, according to Nielsen. If you take out mints and seasonal items, Twizzlers takes the No. 2 spot.
Mars says Skittles moved into the top spot last year but kept silent about the brand's dominance in order to make sure it maintained its lead.

Thirty percent of millennials have purchased groceries online, according to a study of shopping preferences by Chicago-based Retale, an advertising platform for retailers and brands.
Four in 10 (41 percent) older millennials (26- to 34-year-olds) have ordered groceries online, while only 13 percent of younger millennials, age 18-25, have used this type of service.

Kristen Seibert steps up to the Crumptown Farms table one Saturday morning in late May and works her way down the artfully arranged piles of bok choy, chard and salad greens. She pauses in front of a stack of green garlic and chats with suntanned and smiling farmer Brad Constable about how to cook it.
"I talk to Brad every week," says Seibert, an energetic small-business owner who shops at the Richmond market year-round. Sold, she tucks the bunch of garlic into her linen-lined shopping basket along with farm-fresh eggs, strawberries and the weekly produce that is part of her community-supported agriculture (CSA) subscription. Siebert, who cooks for one, says she spends about $44 each week at the St. Stephen's farmers market. She says she started shopping at the market to eat less processed food and improve her health.

Mars Inc., the one-time maker of king-sized chocolate bars, is considering taking its M&Ms out of sugary dessert treats, including McDonald's McFlurry.
An industry source familiar with Mars' thinking said the company has had talks with the world's largest fast-food chain and other partners about its candies' inclusion in super sugary products.
