The Minnesota Twins are building a food truck
Minneapolis / St. Paul Business Journal
The Minnesota Twins are getting in on the food-truck craze, building one of their own to round the bases in Minneapolis and St. Paul. Tentatively named "Taste of Target Field," the food truck will sell ballpark food such as Twins Dogs, bratwursts and Polish sausages as soon as August, Twins Senior Vice President of Operations Matt Hoy said.

NAC Board affirms new by-laws
NAC
The National Association of Concessionaires (NAC) announced that the Executive Committee and Board of Directors have affirmed the new set of by-laws at their April meetings in Las Vegas. In order for these by-laws to take effect, they will have to be voted on by the membership. The vote will take place on Thursday, Aug. 8 during the Annual Membership Luncheon at the 2013 NAC Convention & Trade Show at the Hilton Riverside Hotel in New Orleans.

President's Convention Scholarship awarded to Ovations' Hanauer

The National Association of Concessionaires (NAC) has announced that Jeff Hanauer has been awarded the 2013 President's Convention Scholarship. The event is being held from Aug. 6-9 at the Hilton Riverside Hotel in New Orleans. Hanauer is a General Manager for Ovations Food Service at a brand new AAA baseball stadium in El Paso, Texas. He graduated with a degree in accounting from Tulane University in 2002.

Joey Chestnut does it again! Champ wins Nathan's hot dog eating contest for record seventh straight year

Joey "Jaws" Chestnut again gorged his way into history recently, winning his seventh consecutive Nathan's Hot Dog Eating championship in Coney Island by scarfing 69 hot dogs and buns in 10 minutes — a new world record. The previous record was 68, which was set last year by Chestnut.

The invention of the cotton candy machine

Though spun sugar has been around for hundreds of years, the electric cotton candy machine was invented in 1897 by a Nashville dentist, William Morrison, with the help of his candymaking partner, John C. Wharton. The two patented the machine two years later and then made a big splash at the 1904 World’s Fair in St. Louis. They sold their “fairy floss” for a quarter, which was quite expensive at the time; you could get about two dozen eggs for that price.
