For more than 50 years, a parade of anthropomorphic snacks has been marching across a stage, suggesting to the audience "Let's all go to the lobby ... to get ourselves a treat." This long-surviving trailer was produced by Filmack Studios in Chicago and animated to a tune similar to "For He's a Jolly Good Fellow." In the original version, a package of gum led the way. Today, even as "dine-in" becomes more prevalent, that snipe still shows up — often in black-and-white with vintage "film scratches" — highlighting the enduring attraction and profitability of traditional concessions. In a virtual roundtable, some members of the industry talk about what"s going on now with "those treats in the lobby."

It may be an even bet on whether the Dodgers will win their Division Series against the Washington Nationals, but we can say we know at least one guy who has already suffered the consequences of betting against the team. And those consequences were ... nacho cheese flavored. When pitcher Joe Blanton signed with the team this past January, he didn't have the greatest reputation. He was 11 years into his career, but in all that time had rarely logged stats that were anything more than average. Some critics said he seemed to have peaked in 2009. In the words of Cathy and 30 Rock's Liz Lemon, "Chocolate! Chocolate! Chocolate! Aack!"
To its countless worshipers, chocolate is not just a delicious treat; it's a lifestyle. So it helps to receive any confirmation whatsoever that it's a healthy one. Brown University researchers have done their part, finding more evidence to bolster claims that compounds in cocoa are good for your cardiovascular system.
Their study, published in the Journal of Nutrition, analyzed information from controlled trials of more than 1,100 volunteers to determine whether consuming cocoa products containing compounds called flavanols improved certain biomarkers such as cholesterol levels and a person's sensitivity to insulin, the hormone that controls blood sugar levels.
