Diagnostic questions for a church's health
The Christian Post
Church consultation is sometimes like a medical physical — we know we need it, but we don't like being poked and prodded. Nevertheless, a good consultation prods with some important questions. These questions are just a beginning, but every diagnosis must start somewhere. If these questions show areas of weakness in your church, though, don't lose heart. Honest diagnosis is the first step toward prescription and better health.

Church building design trends in the 21st century
By Robert C. Foreman
Church architecture has undergone major changes in recent years. Church buildings in the 20th century looked and functioned a lot like church buildings of the 19th century. But among the rapidly growing evangelical churches, the look and style of the typical 21st century church building is trending toward something very different. These changes began during the last half of the 20th century and will continue because of a rapidly changing culture.

Are annual church pledge drives still relevant?
Managing Your Church
You may or may not be familiar with church pledge drives. Near the end of the fiscal year, the church distributes pledge cards that allow households to indicate how much they expect to give every month in the upcoming year. Those pledges then help the church begin to anticipate what giving may look like and, to some extent, budget accordingly. But does this approach remain relevant?

Why nice people kill churches
Church Leaders
One of the most destructive inclinations of church growth and the advancement of the Gospel is the simple fact that people on staff at most churches are simply too nice to each other. Being nice is a good thing, but when it begins to trump being honest because you don't want to experience the discomfort of a difficult conversation, that's not nice ... that's selfish. And when that begins to happen, everybody loses.

Gallup's 'most religious' cities vs. Barna's 'most Bible-minded' cities
Gleanings
Mississippi may be the most religious state in America, but new Gallup stats reveal the most religious city in the United States isn't even in the Bible Belt. It's in Utah. Of the top 10 most religious cities identified by Gallup, only three are outside of the South: Provo-Orem, Utah; Ogden-Clearfield, Utah; and Holland-Grand Haven, Mich. But of greater interest, Gallup's list looks significantly different from one recently released by Barna Group and American Bible Society.

Who takes your church seriously?
Lewis Center for Church Leadership
No church is right for everyone. It can be helpful to acknowledge that fact to potential members. It is a way to treat such conversations from the perspective of their need to find the right church rather than from the church's need for members. People will take your church more seriously, not less so, with such an approach. No matter how vital your church is and how sensitive your approach to new people, not everyone will choose to attend your church.
Rules for managing creative people
Harvard Business Review
Moody, erratic, eccentric and arrogant? Perhaps — but you can't just get rid of them. In fact, unless you learn to get the best out of your creative employees, you will sooner or later end up filing for bankruptcy. Conversely, if you just hire and promote people who are friendly and easy to manage, your firm will be mediocre at best. Suppressed creativity is a malignant organizational tumor. So what are the keys to engaging and retaining creative employees?
