WPC 2010 Conference update
The NADRA Annual Board of Directors meeting took place Oct. 3, in Charlotte, N.C. Following the meeting, the NADRA board and many members of the association attended the WPC conference on Monday and Tuesday of this week. Kudos to Steve Van Kouteren and the team at Principia Partners for a job well done. What a great event! More details to follow in the weeks ahead.

US construction employment picks up

Half the states in the U.S. saw construction employment increase in August, and year-on-year increases in employment were also seen according to the Associated General Contractors of America. The association said the number of states reporting an increase in construction jobs compared to a year ago rose to 10, from just six in July. More
Inteplast gets into cellular PVC decking

The decking industry has a new player: Inteplast Group Ltd., the plastic film and bag giant. Inteplast rolled out its cellular PVC decking at the Remodeling Show and Deck Expo, held on Sept. 15-17, in Baltimore. The company is extruding the decking at its massive plant in Lolita, Texas, said Jackson Chen, general manager for building products. More
Decking makers build sales

While sales are not booming, wood-plastic composites, cellular PVC and other non-wood deck builders are rebounding from a sluggish 2009, with sales increases for a number of companies in the double-digits. "We are having a record year in sales, and double-digit growth," said Keith Weathers, business adviser in Chattanooga, Tenn., for Renew Plastics in Luxemburg, Wis. Renew manufactures foamed decking made from 90 percent recycled high density polyethylene milk jugs mixed with fiberglass for added strength. More
