You don't want to miss NADRA Stock on Oct. 21! NADRA Share     NADRA Stock takes place on Thursday, Oct. 21, in the spacious banquet room at the Flemington Elks in Flemington, N.J. A band will provide the music that will get people out of their chairs and onto the dance floor. The first hour is open bar with a cash bar commencing immediately afterwards. Three cocktail hour sponsorships are still available at $200 each. Beer, wine and liquor will be served by our gracious Elk hosts. Dinner will include salad, mixed vegetables, baked ziti, chicken marsala and beef burgundy. After dinner, coffee, tea and dessert will be served. Our vendors will have tables around the room so you can talk to them about their products. Doors open at 5 p.m. and dinner will be served at 6 p.m. The festivities don't end until 9 p.m.! The weather was perfect and the atmosphere festive for the 2010 "Deck for a Soldier®" ribbon cutting ceremony this past Saturday. Members from the Atlanta NADRA Chapter, Operation Home Front and The Associated General Contractors (Georgia Group) were in attendance. The unemployment rate in the U.S. construction industry continues to tick up. Construction unemployment increased to 17.2 percent in September, up from 17 percent in August and from 17.1 percent one year ago, according to an Oct. 8, employment report by the U.S. Labor Department. The construction industry lost 21,000 jobs in September; the industry has lost 210,000 jobs over the last 12 months. In the housing market, old is the new young. The market for old people's housing is youthfully frisky, while the housing for younger people looks like it's ready for prune juice and prefuneral planning. "If you are going to be in real estate now, the senior market is the place to be," said Pam Pelletier, owner of Avanti Consulting. Small-business lending still hasn't bounced back to pre-recession levels. But despite a rocky year, the number of loans backed by the Small Business Administration jumped about 30% in 2010. The agency, which ended its fiscal year Sept. 30, says it approved $16.84 billion, or 54,826 small business loans, in the past 12 months. That's up from fiscal 2009, when the SBA backed about $13.03 billion during the depths of the credit crunch. In 2007, the agency backed about $20.61 billion. Economists cut US growth forecasts through 2011, survey shows Bloomberg Share
The U.S. economy, the world’s largest, will expand less than previously estimated as a lack of jobs restrains consumer spending through 2011, a survey showed. Gross domestic product will increase 2.6 percent this year and next, according to the median of 46 economists surveyed by the National Association for Business Economics from Sept. 2 to Sept. 21. A May poll projected growth of 3.2 percent for both years. Economists also cut estimates for personal spending, employment and consumer prices. More |
