Edward Peterson of Stork Twin City Testing states: The Minnesota NADRA Chapter held its first "official" meeting last Thursday evening. Judging from the quality of members we have assembled and their enthusiasm, I predict the Minnesota NADRA Chapter will experience substantial growth in 2011 and play a pivotal role in the overall NADRA growth.

Confidence among U.S. small businesses rose in November to the highest level since the recession began three years ago as more companies projected the economy and sales will improve, a private survey found. More

Most employees should see their weekly incomes increase between $15 and $26 as part of a compromise between President Barack Obama and congressional Republicans that would slash payroll taxes by nearly one-third. The $120 billion cut in Social Security taxes would reduce the amount workers pay to 4.2 percent from the current 6.2 percent. The cut would bepart of a larger $900 billion, two-year extension of Bush-era tax cuts. More

A weak construction environment is keeping prices for domestically priced construction materials stable to slightly lower but this is being more than offset by continuing gains in internationally priced commodities used in construction materials. The commodity price surge is coming from the resumption of economic growth in most industrial countries and the return to very rapid economic growth in developing countries. More

Housing starts in US gain for first time in 3 months
Builders in the U.S. began work on more homes in November for the first time in three months, showing the industry is struggling to recover. Housing starts rose to a 555,000 annual rate, up 3.9 percent from October's 534,000 pace that was higher than initially estimated, Commerce Department figures showed last week in Washington. More
Small firms may have to work harder for sales and cut costs
