From July 1: Nearly all hotels are experiencing staffing shortages, and half report being severely understaffed, according to a new member survey conducted by the American Hotel & Lodging Association (AHLA). Ninety-seven percent of survey respondents indicated they are experiencing a staffing shortage, 49 percent severely so. The most critical staffing need is housekeeping, with 58 percent ranking it as their biggest challenge.

From July 13: While hotel bookings are bouncing back in the wake of the pandemic, guest satisfaction is down, according to J.D. Power's 2022 North America Hotel Guest Satisfaction Index Study.
The company analyzed responses to over 150 questions about guests' hotel stays taking place between May 2021 and May 2022, and evaluated the performance of 101 brands, according to a news release Thursday.
